Design and Industrial-Academic Collaboration

1.About the Conference

The 11th International Conference on Interdisciplinary Design and Industrial-Academic Collaboration (ICIDIC’18) will be held at Shu-Te University, Taiwan in 2018, which is organized by the department of Fashion Design of the Design College. The conference provides a timely forum and brings together researchers and practitioners to discuss issues, identify challenges and future directions, and share their R& D findings and experiences.

2.Themes

The theme for this year is aimed in the following subjects, Smart, Design, Innovation and Environment. A dramatic change in global consciousness is under way triggered by the worldwide ecological economic and financial crises. The design industry is on integral, vital and influential part of the global system that has brought about a profound challenge to re-think the meaning, role, and contribution of design to sustainable development on human, social, cultural and ecological well-being in the 21st century. Designs merge technology into a unified user experiences that the technology recedes into the background and people benefit from the capabilities and experiences available. By focusing on functional gain, critical awareness, and emotive connection, multifaceted and complex technology can be made to feel straightforward and become an integral part of daily life. Therefore, the new meaning of fundamental and instrumental values of design is an interdisciplinary design which leverages them as elements of digitization, electrification, automatization or connectivity.
The topics are related to the approaches of smart, innovative, integrative, multicultural, sport and green in the areas of fashion design, visual communication and illustration, product, spatial and interaction design, architecture, multi-media, games & animation, performing arts and management, which can retranslate the new values of design in order to promoting social, cultural, and environmental responsible design products. The researchers, designers and developers who are from universities, industrial-academic collaboration, artistic collaboration, the faculty of government are clearly embraced and recognized the value of this conference.
